Caladan Pal Android Privacy Policy

Overview

Caladan Pal for Android is a lightweight companion app for Android 10 and later. It provides local tap, drag, hold, shake, and foreground rest-screen experiences. It does not provide accounts, chat, ads, analytics, or cloud sync.

Our principle is to keep the core companion experience on your device and collect as little data as possible. The app connects only to the Caladan Pal website or static download service to check for and obtain official updates; it does not operate a business backend that receives accounts, companion preferences, or sensor data.

What We Do Not Collect

The app does not collect or upload names, email addresses, account profiles, contacts, location, photos, files, device identifiers, usage statistics, advertising identifiers, or crash telemetry, and it does not build user profiles.

The app contains no advertising, analytics, push, or third-party business SDKs. The website-distributed build requests network access and permission to invoke the system installer only for updates. It does not request camera, microphone, location, notification, shared-storage, or contacts permissions.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your home-companion choice, character positions for portrait and landscape, and the in-app language choice on Android 10–12 are stored in private app storage only to restore your local experience. On Android 13 and later, app language is managed through the system app-language feature.

These preferences are not uploaded to Caladan Pal servers. You can delete them through the system Clear storage action or by uninstalling the app. System backup is disabled, and there is no server copy.

Shake Input and the Accelerometer

The app reads the accelerometer only while it is in the foreground to determine whether a shake occurred and estimate its direction and intensity. Raw sensor data is not stored, uploaded, used for advertising, or used for cross-app tracking.

Sensor listening stops when the app moves to the background. If a device has no accelerometer, an equivalent on-screen tap action is available.

Companion Rest Screen

The rest screen keeps the display awake and plays local scenes only while Caladan Pal is in the foreground. It is not a system lock screen, does not read lock-screen content, and does not create a persistent background service.

Foreground keep-awake behavior and scene playback stop when you leave the app or return to the system launcher.

Updates and External Links

The website-distributed build checks a static HTTPS release manifest when the app enters the foreground. It checks at least once per process and checks again on a later foreground entry when the last successful check is more than six hours old. If a higher version is available, the app downloads the APK in the foreground and shows progress. Leaving the app stops an unfinished check or download; the app does not create a background update service.

The update User-Agent contains only the app name, versionName, and versionCode. It does not append an account, advertising identifier, device identifier, companion preference, character position, or sensor data. The website, static download service, and network providers may still process ordinary connection information needed to deliver files, such as an IP address, request time, and network technical information.

After download, the app verifies the APK size, SHA-256, package name, version, and Caladan Pal app-signing certificate in private, non-backed-up storage. Only a fully verified APK can show the non-skippable required-update screen. Android still requires you to trust the installation source and confirm in the system installer; the app cannot install silently. Superseded and temporary APK files are deleted when no longer needed.

Sharing, Retention, and Deletion

Caladan Pal for Android does not share user data with advertisers or sell user data, and it does not create server-side accounts or user profiles. The website or static download service processes only ordinary version requests and file-transfer connection information.

Local preferences remain until you clear app storage or uninstall the app. Because there is no account or server copy, we cannot restore or remotely delete local state on your device.

Children

Caladan Pal for Android is not specifically designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. The target age group in Google Play will be declared separately and accurately based on the product’s actual positioning.

Changes to This Policy

If the Android app adds accounts, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, additional network uses, new permissions, or another feature that changes data handling, we will update this policy and applicable platform disclosures before release and show a new revision date.
